We went on our 3rd annual apple picking outing today. The first year we went to BJ Reece and then last year and this year we went to two different apple orchards. BJ Reece allows you to u-pick during the week but Hillcrest has more activities, such as the petting farm, slides, cow milking, etc.
We have met my sister, who lives in Atlanta, all 3 years at the apple orchards. It's always so much fun.
This year we did more looking over fences than we did paying to enjoy. With the growing family, there's more outside enjoying rather than always being hands on.
We were able to enjoy the slides, the "zip line" (thank you Papa), and the fake cow milking. Hillcrest is geared more towards school groups during the week. I've never been on the weekend and after seeing the crowds today I don't think I will ever venture up there on a weekend.
It was a great day with warm weather and happy faces. Katie did great in the baby carrier. It was very windy and at times it was hard to protect her from the wind, even with the blanket.
Zion was feeling a bit better after almost a week of an upset stomach and several rough nights. It's been sad seeing his weak little eyes.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch before going into the orchard to pick. Since it's a per person fee, only those who wanted to pick went in. So Meri (my sister), Nana and Maggie went and picked some apples while Papa and I stayed behind with the other 3 children. We enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. Well actually I sat in the car and nursed Baby Katie but I did enjoy the sunshine. : )
