It's Official. She's 5 Now.

Yesterday, October 1st, it was official. My oldest is now half a decade old. Wow. Since we celebrated her birthday 3 weeks early we wanted to make her actual birthday special.

Jeremy had to work the first half of the day so my parents picked me and all the children up and we went across town to Krispy Kreme. It's amazing how much they have grown since the last time we were there.

We got a dozen assorted doughnuts. Maggie picked the ones with sprinkles but the bite in the picture is the only bite she took. LOL.

The children were a little more impressed but still neither Emma nor Zion ate more than half. Maybe next time we should do an ice cream stop since that seems to be the only consistent sweet they eat. : )

Katie didn't even know she was there but I added the hat to document her first visit to Krispy Kreme.

We spent the afternoon at home and then the evening plan was to downtown and see the hot air balloons like we did last year.

The weather was beautiful but it was very windy and cold.

We talked to some of the balloon owners and they said that if the wind didn't die down they would not be able to get the balloons out.

We made a few rounds around the perimeter of the park and decided it was much too cold and windy.

As we were loading up the van it did seem that the wind had died down. The balloon owners were repositioning their vans and baskets. So they may have indeed been able to get them out and up.

But regardless it was too cold. Poor baby Katie kept getting her breath taken from the wind despite all the blankets we had protecting her.

So Lord willing, maybe next year we can see the balloons. But regardless it was a great 5th birthday for Maggie. A day filled with treats and sweets and family. : )

Happy Belated birthday to sweet Maggie! I think it's funny that your children don't like baked sweets. It's definitely good, just uncharacteristic. You must be feeding them so much good stuff that they don't crave it!

Laura,
I do wish that was the case but they will gobble up ice cream and candy and juice in a heartbeat. : ) Those things we certainly don't keep in the house.
